Headmaster David du Toit praised Maphaka for his outstanding academic results, especially considering the numerous disruptions he faced during the year, including his participation in the Under-19 World Cup, the IPL, and the Proteas’ tour to the West Indies.
“Kwena has shown tremendous resilience, discipline, and independence by completing parts of his curriculum online, with tutors or on his own,” Du Toit remarked.
Maphaka’s subject results included impressive scores of 78% in History, 76% in English, 75% in Afrikaans, and 73% in Life Orientation.

Currently playing in the SA20 tournament, Maphaka’s journey continues to gain momentum.
Having made his Test debut just weeks ago, his talent has not gone unnoticed.
Graeme Smith, the SA20 commissioner and former Proteas captain, spoke highly of Maphaka’s natural abilities on the field.
“He is a supreme talent,” Smith said, emphasizing Maphaka’s free-spirited approach to bowling.
“He’s not afraid to go for yorkers and bouncers, and when he has a bad spell, he bounces back quickly.
I like the fact that he is a natural and not over-coached.”

Smith also noted the importance of allowing Maphaka to grow and develop at his own pace, without being restricted by over-coaching.
“You don’t want to kill a bowler’s instinct,” he added.
