Police Investigate Unexplained Death After Man’s Body Is Pulled from River Wensum in Norwich Early Saturday Morning

A tragic incident occurred early Saturday morning in Norwich, where emergency services recovered the body of a man from the River Wensum.

The authorities have launched an investigation into the man’s sudden and unexplained death.

Emergency Response at the Scene

Police were alerted at 4:26 AM to the Novi Sad Friendship Bridge near the river, where the man’s body was discovered.

Firefighters and paramedics swiftly arrived on the scene and pulled a man, believed to be in his 40s, from the water.

Despite immediate efforts to save him, the man was later pronounced dead after being transported to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Description of the Man and Appeal for Information

The deceased man is described as being of Asian descent, with a slim build, and standing at approximately 5ft 9in tall.

He was wearing a black North Face puffer jacket, black trousers, and a wide-brimmed hat.

He was also carrying a large black holdall at the time of the incident.

Police have now launched a full investigation to understand how and why the man ended up in the river.

The incident is currently being treated as unexplained, and authorities have notified his next of kin.

Investigators Seek Public Help

Norfolk Police are urging anyone who was in the Riverside area of Norwich in the early hours of Saturday, January 11th, to come forward if they witnessed anything unusual or have relevant footage.

This could include dashcam or other video footage from that time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Norfolk Police, quoting CAD 53 of 11th January, and assisting authorities in shedding light on this unexplained tragedy.
