As the new year begins, rugby fans in South Africa are eagerly anticipating the upcoming season with the announcement of the Springboks’ 2025 Test match dates.
This year promises to be packed with thrilling encounters, both at home and abroad.
South Africa’s Home Leg of the Rugby Championship
The action kicks off in July with Italy and Georgia set to visit South Africa for the Incoming Series. These matches will give fans a chance to see their world champions in action before they head into the Rugby Championship in August.
The Springboks will open their title defense against the Wallabies on the 16th and 23rd of August.
Following these home fixtures, the Springboks will travel to New Zealand for back-to-back Tests against the All Blacks in September, on the 6th and 13th.
They’ll then return home to face Argentina on the 27th of September, before heading overseas again on the 4th of October for the final match of the Rugby Championship.
November European Tour
Looking further ahead, details of the Springboks’ European tour are starting to take shape.
The team will face off against some of the best teams in Europe, with matches scheduled against Wales, France, Italy, and Ireland in November.
The first Test will take place in Cardiff on the 1st of November, followed by a highly anticipated rematch against France in Paris on the 8th.
This will be a replay of the dramatic 2023 World Cup quarter-final, where the Springboks narrowly defeated France 29-28.
The Springboks will then play Italy on the 15th of November and conclude their European tour against Ireland in Dublin on the 22nd of November.
It’s worth noting that the Springboks haven’t won in Dublin since 2012, which will add extra motivation for the team.
