Christian Craighead, a former SAS soldier, has gained recognition for his bravery during a terror attack in Nairobi, Kenya.
In a bold move, he led the rescue of dozens of hostages held by the al-Shabaab group at the DusitD2 hotel complex.
The attack, which occurred six years ago, left 22 dead but saw 27 people freed, many of whom were carried to safety by Craighead after eliminating two terrorists.
Recognition and New Role: Trump’s Personal Bodyguard
After the heroic mission, Craighead was publicly praised by then-President Donald Trump, who reached out to him to express admiration for his actions.
This connection has now led to Craighead being hired as one of Trump’s elite personal bodyguards.
Trump, who had experienced an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, reportedly said that Craighead’s ‘eagle eyes’ wouldn’t have missed a potential shooter during the incident.
Secretive Duties: Behind the Scenes with Trump
Craighead, 48, has taken on a crucial role in Trump’s security detail, focusing on reconnaissance for public appearances.
A close family friend shared that Craighead and Trump have kept in regular touch since the 2019 terror attack, and Craighead has even formed close relationships with Trump’s son, Don Jr., and his former partner Kimberly Guilfoyle.
From Hero to Controversy: SAS Fallout
Though Craighead’s heroism in Nairobi earned him the UK’s Conspicuous Gallantry Award, it also led to tensions within the SAS, known for its discretion.
After the operation, Craighead left the regiment, citing his being shunned by his comrades.
His planned book on the attack, “One Man In,” was blocked by the Ministry of Defence.
Continuing Friendship: Trump and Craighead’s Bond
The bond between Trump and Craighead strengthened when Trump invited him to the White House to personally thank him for his actions in Nairobi.
Craighead later introduced Trump at a rally in New Jersey.
Following a failed assassination attempt on Trump, he reportedly told his team that Craighead would have noticed the threat.
In December 2024, Craighead officially joined Trump’s security team after securing US residency and finalizing financial terms.
Legal Drama: Personal Struggles in Craighead’s Life
Amid the security work, Craighead’s personal life also faced challenges.
Last year, his girlfriend, Tobi-Jayne Cadbury, was targeted by Craighead’s ex-partner, British Army dentist Major Jennifer Wilson, who was convicted of harassment.
She was ordered to complete community service and given a ten-year restraining order.
Looking Ahead: Craighead’s Role at Trump’s Inauguration
