Rainy Weather to Continue Across Gauteng
This weekend, the South African Weather Service is warning residents across Gauteng and neighboring provinces to prepare for heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The wet weather is expected to last throughout the weekend, and it may cause some disruptions in the area.
What to Expect in Gauteng
In Gauteng,
including areas like Pretoria and Johannesburg, there’s a high chance of rain.
Pretoria will see temperatures dipping to around 24°C,
with a 70% chance of rain on Saturday.
Expect similar conditions on Sunday, with more rain and cool temperatures.
The rain may also bring thunderstorms, accompanied by heavy downpours, strong winds, and lightning, especially in areas of the North West, Limpopo, and the Highveld region of Mpumalanga.
For Johannesburg, thunderstorms are expected to roll in during the afternoon, with highs reaching 22°C.
As the weekend continues, the city will experience isolated showers and thunderstorms, lasting into the evening.
Weather Outlook for Next Week
The bad weather isn’t expected to let up until Monday,
with more rain and thunderstorms across Gauteng.
However, by Tuesday, the weather should start to improve, with temperatures gradually rising and less rainfall predicted.
Safety Precautions for Drivers
With the heavy rain and thunderstorms on the way, Gauteng’s MEC for Roads and Transport,
Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, has issued a reminder for motorists to be extra cautious.
“We urge you to be extra vigilant and careful during these conditions to prevent injuries and loss of lives,
” she advised, urging everyone to drive safely in the stormy weather.
