Sophia Thomalla has recently shared some interesting insights into her relationship with tennis star Alexander Zverev, including his rather unique habits before bedtime.
The couple, who have been together since 2021, often travel the world together as Zverev competes in various tennis tournaments.
But while Thomalla can manage the constant traveling, it’s her boyfriend’s peculiar superstitions that she finds difficult to understand.
Zverev’s Strict Nighttime Routine
In an interview with RTL, Thomalla opened up about Zverev’s strict nighttime routine, which includes multiple trips to the bathroom before bed.
“Every evening, before he goes to bed, he goes to the toilet three times,” Thomalla revealed.
“And then back to bed, back and forth like that.”
While this repetitive behavior seems to be part of Zverev’s ritual, Thomalla admitted that she can’t help but feel the urge to cry every night when they’re together.
She joked, “Now just come to bed.”
Though she seems to humorously tolerate his routine, Thomalla, who herself is a German model and actress, doesn’t share his belief in superstitions.
“Superstition is a sign of weakness,” she commented.
“You cling to certain rituals just because you don’t have faith in yourself.”
Zverev’s Controversial Past
Zverev’s personal life has been under scrutiny in recent years, particularly in light of the abuse allegations that surfaced in 2023.
He was accused of physical abuse by Brenda Patea, the mother of his child, and while he agreed to a financial settlement, he denied any wrongdoing.
Zverev was cleared of any criminal charges, though the court issued a penalty order and a fine against him.
In a public statement following the settlement, Zverev dismissed the allegations as false, saying, “I told you so from the start.”
The tennis star has also faced accusations of abuse from another ex-girlfriend, Olga Sharypova, which he has denied.
The ATP conducted an investigation into the claims but found insufficient evidence to take action.
Thomalla’s Career and Background
Outside of her relationship with Zverev, Thomalla has built an impressive career for herself as an actress, model, and TV presenter in Germany.
She began acting at the young age of 18 and has since appeared in numerous German television shows and movies.
Coming from a family of actors, Thomalla’s mother, Simone Thomalla, and her stepfather, André Vetters, are both well-known figures in the German entertainment industry.
Thomalla is also a successful model, having been ranked number three on FHM’s list of the sexiest women, and has even posed for the German edition of Playboy.
