Artificial intelligence is advancing rapidly, but with its growth comes the pressing need to ensure it is developed responsibly and safely. Recognizing this, the Impact Academy’s Global AI Safety Fellowship provides an extraordinary opportunity for top-tier STEM talent to collaborate with leading organizations on addressing AI safety challenges.
What is the Fellowship?
The fellowship is a fully-funded, 3 to 6-month research program aimed at fostering the safe and ethical evolution of AI technologies. Selected Fellows will work closely with globally renowned AI safety organizations, gaining firsthand experience in addressing critical AI risks while contributing to groundbreaking solutions.
Participants will join partner organizations such as the Center for Human Compatible AI (CHAI) at UC Berkeley, Conjecture, FAR.AI, Mila–Quebec AI Institute, and the UK AI Safety Institute (AISI).
Comprehensive Support for Fellows
Fellows benefit from an array of resources designed to ensure their success during the program, including:

Who Can Apply?
The fellowship seeks applicants who are:
- Available for full-time work for at least three months beginning February or March 2025.
- Located anywhere globally, with an emphasis on representation from underrepresented regions in AI safety.
- Above 18 years of age as of January 2025.
Selection Process
The selection process is rigorous yet rewarding, lasting 4 to 6 weeks. Applicants will be evaluated on technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and passion for addressing complex AI safety challenges.
After selection, Fellows will receive tailored placement offers from partner organizations, collaborating as peers with seasoned researchers. While specific roles may vary, all participants will make meaningful contributions to the field.

- Knowledge of Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning, backed by research or publications.
- At least 1 year of programming experience in a leading tech environment.

- A passion for AI safety and a commitment to impactful research.
