Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm is taking a positive approach despite facing challenges this season.

After dealing with an ankle injury that sidelined him before the campaign started, Timm has only made one appearance on the pitch.

Yet, he remains hopeful that his dedication and effort will lead to better opportunities.

Season Highlights for the Buccaneers

The Pirates have had a busy season, already playing over ten matches, and they recently celebrated their first trophy of the year.

Timm’s last game for the team was back in August during the MTN8 semi-final against Cape Town City, making his limited playing time all the more frustrating.

Embracing Team Spirit

Reflecting on his situation, Timm expressed, “When you enter this sport, you have to remember it’s not an individual game like boxing or tennis. You’re part of a team.”

He understands the desire to contribute actively and be part of the action, as that’s the reward for all the hard work put in.

“I have enough experience to handle situations when things don’t go as planned, whether that’s not making the squad or spending time on the bench,” he added, emphasizing his respect for the decisions made by the coaching staff and management.

Leading by Example

Despite not having played in over six weeks, Timm believes in the importance of setting a positive example for the younger players on the team.

“We train together every morning, and I don’t think it would reflect well on me to show frustration when there are young players trying to find their footing,” he said.

Choosing to stay focused and maintain a strong work ethic, he recognizes, “That’s what I can control. The rest is out of my hands.”

Looking Ahead

As Timm works to regain his spot in coach Jose Riveiro’s lineup, he faces competition from solid performers like Thalente Mbatha and Makhehlene Makhaula.

However, now that he’s back from injury, there’s a good chance we’ll see him in action more often, particularly in the upcoming CAF Champions League matches.

What’s next for Timm? Only time will tell, but his determination is certainly commendable.
