South Africa’s Deputy President Paul Mashatile Collapses During Speech in Tzaneen but is Reported to be Fine by Limpopo Premier

Deputy President Paul Mashatile is reportedly doing well after experiencing some health issues during a speech on Saturday.

The Premier of Limpopo Province, Phophi Ramathuba, shared with SABC that Mashatile is “fine” despite having struggled with the heat while speaking.

Incident During the Speech

Mashatile fainted while addressing a ceremony in Tzaneen, located about 412 kilometers northeast of Johannesburg, to celebrate the inauguration of a local traditional leader.

Security and emergency personnel quickly assisted him off the podium.

Assurances from Limpopo’s Premier

Phophi Ramathuba, who is also a medical doctor, assured the public that Mashatile is safe and under medical care.

“The deputy president is fine, he is with his medical team.

I was with them, he’s ok and there’s no need to worry,” Ramathuba stated.
