SA Rugby Warns Fans to Be Cautious of Online Scams Selling Fake Tickets for Springboks vs Argentina Match at Mbombela Stadium

With the excitement building for the Springboks’ final home match of the Rugby Championship, set to take place at Mbombela Stadium against Argentina at the end of this month, SA Rugby has issued a crucial warning for supporters.

If you’re hunting for tickets online, you need to be extra cautious.

Watch Out for Scams

As the match draws near, the demand for tickets has surged, and unfortunately, so have the scams.

Tickets from the official channels—Computicket or the stadium ticket office—are almost entirely sold out.

Any other website offering tickets is likely a scam, according to SA Rugby.

Rian Oberholzer, the CEO of SA Rugby, highlighted the issue: “With Springbok match tickets in high demand, fraudsters are out in full force, looking to make a quick profit.

We hear too often about fans paying exorbitant prices on dubious websites only to be left empty-handed and out of pocket.”

Avoiding the Pitfalls

Online resellers, like Viagogo and others, are known for charging inflated prices and often become increasingly vague about ticket collection as the event date approaches.

In some cases, these so-called companies simply vanish.

Oberholzer expressed frustration over this recurring issue: “It’s incredibly disheartening to see fans disappointed and cheated every season.

Our message is clear: if you don’t buy your tickets through the official channels, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment.”

What’s at Stake?

The match on Saturday, 28 September at 17:00 will be a significant event, with the Rugby Championship trophy up for grabs.

It’s a showdown between the Springboks and the Pumas, the last two teams vying for the title.

Make sure you get your tickets the right way to avoid any hassles and enjoy the game!
