Big news is coming from WWE as they adjust their schedule in anticipation of RAW’s upcoming shift to Netflix.
A New Era for RAW
RAW, which has been a staple of Monday night TV since 1993, is undergoing a significant change.
The show, which has been running for three hours since reaching its 1,000th episode in 2012, will soon return to its original two-hour format.
This adjustment comes as WWE prepares for RAW’s move to Netflix at the start of the new year.
Fans React to the Change
For years, fans have expressed mixed feelings about the extended length of RAW.
Starting October 7th, WWE is trimming the show back to two hours, airing from 8pm ET to 10pm ET.
This change will be in effect through the end of 2024, with the final episode of the year airing on December 30th.
Transition Period and Streaming Deal
Currently broadcast on the USA Network, RAW’s contract is set to expire in October.
To avoid a gap before the show transitions to Netflix, WWE has secured a new agreement to keep RAW on the USA Network until the new year, albeit in its shortened format.
What’s Next for RAW?
Once RAW moves to Netflix in January 2025, it will mark the first time the show will leave linear television since its inception.
This landmark deal, reportedly worth £3.8 billion over 10 years, includes an option for Netflix to extend or exit after five years.
The show will be exclusively available on Netflix in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Latin America, and will also feature WWE’s premium live events, documentaries, and original series.
In the U.K., WWE programming has been broadcast on TNT Sports after previously being shown on Sky Sports.
Fans can look forward to seeing how these changes play out in the coming months.
