In a devastating turn of events, a Florida toddler is now facing potential orphanhood following a horrific car crash that claimed the lives of his mother and brother, while leaving his father critically injured.

The tragedy unfolded near West Palm Beach, at the intersection of the 7800 block of South Military Trail and Miner Road.

According to detectives, Dawn Howard, 54, was driving a speeding Lexus when she collided with the family’s VW Jetta.

Grechy Y. Almaguer-Perez, 43, and her son Diego Cordoves, 10, tragically lost their lives in the crash.

Alejandro Cordoves-Rodriguez, 46, the father and driver of the Jetta, sustained critical injuries and is not expected to survive.

Reports suggest that Howard accelerated through a yellow light at the intersection, then continued speeding through a left-hand curve, ultimately crashing into the back of the family’s vehicle in the outside lane.

Suspected Cause and Legal Ramifications

Authorities suspect Howard may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the incident.

She sustained minor injuries and was taken to Delray Medical Center, where she reportedly became confrontational with law enforcement, leading to charges of battery on an officer.
