St. John Chrysostom Expounds on Thomas’ Doubt as Strengthening Believers’ Faith Amid Christ’s Resurrection Appearance in Sermon at Antioch

According to St. John Chrysostom, known as a doctor of the Church and revered for his preaching, Thomas’ initial disbelief actually strengthened the faith of believers more than the disciples’ unwavering belief.

Chrysostom explained that when Thomas touched Christ’s wounds and was restored to faith, it affirmed the spirit of believers, eliminating all doubts.
