In Matungu, Kakamega County, Kenya, a 10-month-old baby is said to have drowned in a basin full of water.

The mother, Audrey Akumu, was doing laundry outside her home when the event occurred, according to Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Akumu, 25, cried, drawing the attention of nearby people, who were able to recover the baby’s body. “Suddenly, she realized the baby had gone silent and turned back to see whether he was okay, only to find him drowned inside a basin full of water,” according to the DCI statement.

“They rushed the baby to nearby Bliss Medical Centre where the baby was pronounced dead on arrival.” DCI further advised parents to keep their babies away from water that can end their lives.
The statement added;  “We advise parents and guardians that it is never too late to save a child’s life, even if they stop breathing.
“Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) even if a child is unresponsive and do not stop until medical professionals take over.
