Spyro’s Journey: Paying Dues in the Music Industry:
Nigerian singer Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, professionally known as Spyro, has opened up about the emotional turmoil he faced when witnessing his colleagues, Fireboy DML and Oxlade, attain success in their music careers before him.
Spyro disclosed these struggles during his appearance on the latest episode of the Tea With Tay podcast.
Painful Reflections on Delayed Stardom:
Reflecting on his journey, Spyro revealed that he experienced profound disappointment as he observed his junior colleagues achieving stardom while he grappled with delays in his own career.
Despite investing in promotional efforts, such as paying for his song to feature on the renowned platform NotJustOkay, Spyro found himself facing the disheartening reality that others were gaining recognition ahead of him.
Learning from Delayed Success: It’s Not Just About Talent, But Grace:
Spyro expressed his unhappiness and frustration during the podcast, recalling moments when he questioned God about the seeming injustice of his delayed success.
However, the singer noted that, in hindsight, he understands that these challenges were part of a divine lesson. God was teaching him that success in the music industry is not solely determined by talent but is a result of grace.
The Sting of Watching Colleagues Rise: Fireboy DML and Oxlade’s Success:
The pain intensified for Spyro when Fireboy DML and Oxlade, whom he had witnessed rise to fame, surpassed him in the industry.
Despite his efforts, Spyro found solace in realizing that his struggles were shaping him and teaching him valuable lessons about humility, patience, and the significance of divine timing.
Candid Admission of Frustration and Struggle:
During the Tea With Tay podcast, Spyro candidly shared the depth of his emotional struggles, admitting to moments of frustration, tears, and questioning.
The singer’s transparency serves as a reminder that the journey to success in the music industry is often filled with challenges, setbacks, and, ultimately, lessons in resilience.
