Vietnam reports 15,936 new COVID-19 infections in last 24 hours

HANOI, 3rd January, 2022 – Vietnam reported 15,936 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours as of 4pm on January 3, including 20 imported cases, reported the Health Ministry.

Hanoi remains the locality with highest number of infections at 2,100, followed by Hai Phong (1,749), Tay Ninh (919), Vinh Long (842), Ca Mau (821), and Khanh Hoa (786).

The total caseload has amounted to 1,778,976 placing the country at 31st out of 224 countries and territories, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.

The same day, 24,461 cases were given all-clear from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,397,157.

Other 190 were confirmed dead from the disease.

With 33,031 fatalities so far, Vietnam ranked 26th out of 224 countries and territories.

On January 2, as many as 594,568 vaccine doses were given, raising the total to nearly 153.

6 million.

Of which, 77,796,499 were first, 69,285,967 were second and 6,514,484 were additional and booster shots.
