Court denies request for urgent release of President Tinubu’s FBI record, aide hails ruling

A court in the United States has denied a request for the urgent release of President Bola Tinubu’s confidential records compiled by American law enforcement authorities. The request was filed by Aaron Greenspan, an American transparency activist.

Greenspan argued that Tinubu was trying to stall the release of the documents to foreclose any impact the disclosures may have on the ongoing election dispute at the Nigerian Supreme Court.

However, Judge Beryl Howell ruled that no hearing to determine the merits of the motion is necessary.

In a reaction to the ruling, Bayo Onanuga, a presidential aide, hailed the decision and accused Greenspan of being an agent of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and a Nigerian journalist, David Hundeyin.

Onanuga claimed that Greenspan and his collaborators were trying to stampede the US court to order the release of President Tinubu’s FBI record, but that their attempt had failed.
