Paul Ibe’s Response to Minister Tuggar’s Statement
Paul Ibe, the Special Adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has strongly reacted to the recent statement made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, concerning President Bola Tinubu’s academic records.
Minister Tuggar’s “Trivial Matters” Comment
Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, had remarked that President Tinubu’s administration had no time to devote to “trivial matters.”
This statement was in reference to the controversy surrounding Tinubu’s academic qualifications.
Ibe’s Critique of the Minister’s Remarks
In response to Minister Tuggar’s comments, Paul Ibe did not mince words. He characterized the Minister’s remarks as both irresponsible and shameful.
Ibe expressed astonishment at the Minister’s apparent endorsement of forgery and perjury.
Questioning the Validation of Forgery and Perjury
Ibe’s incredulity centered on how a foreign affairs minister could openly appear to validate forgery and perjury allegations.
He contended that this response was a direct consequence of the recent claim that Tinubu had forged the academic certificate he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2023 election.
Potential Legal Action
When asked about the possibility of Atiku approaching the Supreme Court with the CSU’s (Certificate Scandal Unit) disclosure regarding Tinubu, Ibe indicated that it would be a decision left to the lawyers.
He implied that the legal team was likely considering their options in response to the evolving situation.
Deadline for Atiku’s Action
It’s worth noting that Atiku Abubakar has until today, October 5, to file fresh evidence at the apex court as part of an appeal against the confirmation of President Tinubu’s election by the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT).
