ABS, UNICEF Enlighten Children On Media Industry

As the International Community observes Children’s Day, the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS and United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF have collaborated to teach the children how to make a career in the Media Industry.

To this end, pupils and students featured on ABS Television programme, the weekend show to express their appreciation to UNICEF.

Miss Ugwunna Chineze and Master Chinecherem Stanley from a private school in Awka were their representatives.

In a press statement by UNICEF Desk Officer Mrs. Franca Madike who expressed appreciation to parents, for the wonderful role they are playing in the upbringing of the children, tasked them to take positive and deliberate actions for the physical and mental well-being of their children.

The statement recalled that last year, the federal government and UNICEF launched an agenda for public discussion, as well as requested attention where kids were allowed space to be thought on broadcasting and how to handle basic broadcasting equipment.

The UNICEF Desk Officer, maintained that children must be protected from the COVID-19 pandemic, as they are most vulnerable to the virus, as the theme for this year’s celebration, which aims to promote awareness on children rights and welfare is, to help children recover from interruptions and learning losses experienced through the pandemic in the last two years.

Speaking on the significance of the day, a school Proprietress Mrs Emejulu commended the efforts of the Ministry of Education, Anambra Broadcasting Service and its partner agencies for strengthening the education sector.

A parent, Mrs Uju Chibuzo noted that children’s day aims at promoting the child’s right that will build a better society.
