A House of Representative member from Borno State, Ahmed Jaha, has awarded a full scholarship to a Petroleum Chemistry student of the University of Maiduguri.

He awarded the scholarship to a 100 level, seventeen year old Fatima Muhammad Mafi, at National Children’s Dialogue in Abuja.

The event was part of the activities to mark the 2021 Universal Children Day with the theme: “The Nigerian Child and the National Unity.

Fatima got the scholarship after she diligently and eloquently answered questions from the Master of Ceremony in a random selection of students to express their future ambition as well as what they intend to achieve.

Fatima Muhammad MafiFatima said she was to study Aeronautic Engineering but because the course is not being offered by the University, she opted for Petroleum Chemistry, a new course at the institution.

“I decided to study the course to contribute to the development of Nigeria and to encourage girl-child education,” Fatima said.

The program featured children panel session, children leadership ideas competition among others.
