Ahead of this week’s Anambra State governorship election, the Auxiliary Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Jonas-Benson Okoye, has pleaded with Christians to come out en-mass and vote for their preferred candidate to safe Ndigbo from impending doom.
Most Reverend Okoye, who made the plea while officiating in a requiem mass at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Council Area, said the message was necessary to protect future of the state.
Correspondent Emmanuel Chigbata reports that Bishop Okoye pleaded with Christians to exercise their franchise irrespective of denomination and stressed that it is the only thing to do to safe Ndigbo.
He frowned at the attitude of some people, who tried to frustrate and hinder the commissioning of Anambra International Cargo and Passengers Airport built by Governor Willie Obiano because of politics, warning that it is a clear indication that failure to vote, will lead to destruction.
According to the Bishop, justice or freedom cannot be gotten by voter apathy ,noting that to save Ndigbo, people should vote massively on November sixth poll for the right candidate that will save the people and make the society a better place.
