90% of fire at Aberdares contained – Kenya Wildlife Service

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) reports that the fire at the Oldonyo Lesatima, Aberdare’s highest mountain, has been brought under control to 90%.
Teams are presently sweeping the area to ensure the last pockets are removed, according to the organization.
“On February 6th, 2022, two fires erupted at Oldonyo Lesatima, Aberdare’s highest mountain. One of the fires that had been creeping towards Satima has finally been put out. The second fire erupted at the summit and spread down the slope, according to KWS.
A chopper has also been deployed, according to KWS, to help coordinate their operations.
