61ST INDEPENDENCE: NIGERIANS TOLD TO CLOSE RANK

As the nation celebrates her 61st independence anniversarry ,Nigerians have been advised to close ranks and work together for the unity of the nation

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun gave the advice on Friday at the nation’s independence anniversarry celebration with the theme “Together come let’s build” held at the Moshood Abiola International Stadium,Abeokuta

Governor Abiodun who described the theme as apt in relation to the current situation in the country explained that the dream of the founding fathers in achieving independence for the nation despite their indifferences was borne out of passion and the interest they had in the unity, progress and cohesiveness of the nation.

The governor noted that some of the challenges currently facing the nation are surmountable through amicable resolution, adding that Nigerians need to believe in themselves and develop unwavering courage to achieve a new nigeria that the people dreamt of.

He submitted that despite the Biafran war, economic recession and other challenges that rocked the nation in the past, the nation has continued to wax stronger, saying a united nigeria is better than a balkanised nation.

The man at the helms of affairs at the Gateway State assured that in line with the theme of the independence anniversary, government would continue to initiate policies and programs towards the development of the state and the prosperity of the people, irrespective of gender, religious, political and tribal affiliation
