38-year-old UBTH doctor shot dead in Edo state

On Monday morning, February 15, a 38-year-old doctor was shot and killed by suspected assailants.
The deceased, known as Otote Osaikhuomwan, works in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.
After gunmen gained access to Otote’s house in GRA, Benin, the Edo state capital, he was killed in front of his pregnant wife.
Bello Kongtons, the Edo State Command Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the death but said no suspects had been apprehended.
“Yes, the doctor was killed,” Kongtons confirmed. The authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder and attempting to apprehend the offenders.
