A 31-year-old woman was arrested in connection with her boyfriend’s murder at Homelake, Randfontein.
The horrifying occurrence happened in Randfontein about midnight on Thursday.
“It is alleged that her 36-year-old boyfriend came home from work under the influence of alcohol. He started to fight with his girlfriend and [reportedly used] his fists for no reason.”
Sergeant Carmen Hendricks of Randfontein Police said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The girlfriend then took a bottle, smashed it, and stabbed the victim in the neck, according to Hendricks.
She went on to say that the emergency services were called and that the victim was pronounced dead at the site. A murder investigation has been launched.
Colonel Hazel Makhafola, acting commander of Randfontein Police Station, appealed with the community not to resort to violence. Instead of engaging in heated argument, he recommended that people just leave the area.
He also encourages residents to visit the Victim Friendly Room at the Randfontein Police Station if necessary.
