The Gold Coast Highway Patrol has pressed charges against a 20-year-old Coomera man for dangerous driving and evasion offences, following two alleged incidents that took place last week in Stapylton and Runaway Bay.
According to reports, on Sunday, March 5, while on patrol, officers noticed a silver 2000 Ford Falcon being driven recklessly in the vicinity of Eastern Service Road, Stapylton.
It is claimed that when officers attempted to intercept the vehicle, the driver refused to pull over and evaded the police.
Further allegations reveal that on Monday, March 6, the same vehicle was spotted driving dangerously at a roundabout near the intersection of Lae Drive and Oxley Drive, Runaway Bay.
The investigations that ensued led to the location and seizure of the vehicle, as well as the arrest of the 20-year-old driver at an Ormeau service station on Thursday, March 9.
The accused has been charged with both evasion of the police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. His case is scheduled to be heard at the Southport Magistrates Court on March 23.
