19-Year-Old Arrested on Suspicion of Attempted Murder After Striking Police Officer with Car in Cheadle

A 19-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly running over a police officer with a car in a terrifying incident in Cheadle.

The event unfolded late Saturday night in a retail park on Wilmslow Road, Greater Manchester.

The Incident

The police officer, a woman, was responding to reports of suspicious activity inside a vehicle when the driver suddenly sped toward her.

As she walked up to the car, the driver aggressively struck her with the vehicle.

The officer was immediately taken to the hospital, where she received medical care for her injuries.

Thankfully, she is recovering well, and the police force is providing her with full support during her recovery.

No Reason for Such Aggression

Chief Inspector John Picton, from the Stockport district, described the incident as “truly shocking” and stressed that there’s absolutely no reason for the attack to have escalated the way it did.

He condemned the assault, emphasizing that such violence against police officers is “completely unacceptable” and will not be tolerated.

Picton continued, saying, “Our officers go out every day to serve our communities and face difficult situations.

It’s appalling that one of our own was harmed in this way.”

Investigation Underway

An investigation into the incident is still ongoing, with authorities piecing together the events that led to this dangerous attack.

The officer who was injured is said to be getting all the support she needs from her colleagues as she recovers.

This shocking event highlights the risks that frontline officers face every day while serving the public.

As the investigation continues, the police force remains committed to supporting the injured officer and ensuring justice is served.
